of Salvatore Perri - Archaeological Group Alybas
As a child, during the evening, after dinner, especially during the summer for the "heat", we used to gather in front of our homes, the so-called "vineyard", the balcony outside, and heard that in the Forest of Serra d'Aiello, from time to time they met the famous "fate", as well as "spirdi "(spirits). The question who has seen them? "Some old man replied," I no, but has seen the mother of my grandmother, while in front of a spring stretched and washed laundry. " It is logical to think that it is a legend passed down from who knows how many generations, and perhaps even a grain of truth there.
To my knowledge, as a founding member of the archeological Alybas, its location in Forest, where is located this legend, there is an archaeological site that dates back to Neolithic. The site is confirmed by the discovery of ceramic di “Stentinello” (6000 a. C. circa), nonché lame in ossidiana e in selce. Ma in contrada Foresta vi è di più: in questo sito troneggia imponente e imperante un grosso masso alto, penso, venti metri circa, non informe, scolpito dal tempo (sicuramente), rappresentante un grosso elefante preistorico ( vedi foto ), with adjoining cave tombs, presumably excavated in ancient times, called "gable du làvuru," and that in ancient times could be used to guard some important person buried there, or perhaps a shrine. In addition, there are traces of ancient sources, as well as wooded areas, all ingredients that make think about areas worship, that is where special rites are practiced. However, it is known that the fairies were nothing more than semi-dee, dee that is fatal, with the delicate task of caring for and raising children of the gods, and who practiced the cult of sacred prostitution.

Today "spirdi" do not see them, maybe they are afraid for our wickedness, and even fairies. However, I like to imagine that the other one is watching us, even in secret.
